A photo-narrative that explores the loneliness associated with grieving a loved on
 

This is one of my favourite projects set by the university, I am very passionate about photography, so this brief was right up my street. In the early stages of this project I was set the task of researching social media posts that I found to be interesting. From this research I had to choose one which would create the foundations of my narrative, the theme. The post I chose was an instagram reel created by the famous Actor, Richard E. Grant, where he talks about the loneliness that grief can incite and his own journey after the sad passing of his wife.

The process of producing the photography I did was extremely challenging, but in the end very worth it. The photos of physical people were more simplistic to capture, and my experience with photography at A Level was really useful in producing them. However, capturing shadows through photography was a completely new concept and I struggled on how was best to approach this, after extensive research and talking it through with my tutor I concluded that a lume box would be the easiest way. A lume box is a really powerful, but very small, light that helped me to project shadows onto the wall.
